Well, I have a lot of inexpensive knives and a few heavy duty, high quality blades as well. I purchased one of these simply because I needed to replace a tiny pocket knife with a larger one and although I have one or two others, I simply liked the Smith and Wesson's blade and handle design so I bought it. I figured it had to be decent, at least.
Once you hold this knife, the grip and feel of the handle's soft, smooth texture is very comfortable with enough firmness to be durable and allow a nice tight grip. It doesn't slip and it's also very light. It does not get caught or poke into and ultimately shred or cut pants pockets.
The blade cuts very well and I have and continue to use it every single day, sometimes I cut string, tape, boxes, cordage, threads, etc., 7 times a day. It isn't expensive or exotic, but it works better and it's more durable than you might think for a lower priced knife.
And beside being able to tighten up the blade at the pivot point easily, it has a nice hole in the end of the handle large enough for a lanyard or wrist loop made from a short length of paracord or similiar size rope.
It's just a very nice knife to carry and use, a great bargain and I would suggest/recommend this also for a young person or a female, as well as a guy like myself who gets bogged down carrying the usual urban stuff (wallet, Cellphone, keys) plus his little survival tools.
